I'm glad I have a girl

What would I do with my time if I had a boy?

My latest sewing project. I want Alaina and her cousin Aidyn to have matching dresses when we take family pictures in May. These are so easy. I just used two white shirts (garage sale) and cut the bottoms off. One of the shirts had a patch on the sleeve, so I sewed a heart over it. Then I sewed on this adorable fabric (walmart clearance) for the skirt part. The bows are also from walmart clearance fabric. So to make both these dresses cost me about $4 total. I think this will become my signature baby shower present for girls.

:(

Firstly, I want to voice my utter disgust at Hilary Rosen's comment related to Ann Romney.

So yesterday was an all-time low for me. A man came up to me when I was walking with Alaina and said "Looks like it's time for a double stroller!" When he saw the puzzled look in my eyes he asked, "You are pregnant, aren't you?" So I went home, cried a little, and did 500 sit-ups.

1. I made baguettes, and they were AMAZING. I won't make them often for two reasons: one, because it took like 6 hours, and two, because the recipe has a rather dangerous step involving throwing water into a 450 degree oven. Scalding steam + Lindsey's clumsiness = no thanks.

2. Alaina started laughing a while ago, and I'm just now getting around to posting this.

3. We took some photos at Caleb's grandparent's place on Easter. If only we had one of all 3 of us.

My baby is getting so big!

I'm no Wordsworth

Please don't laugh; I entered a poetry contest. Here is my poem. I know it's pretty simple, but I've just been looking for ways to get the creative juices flowing.

New Mother
by Lindsey Miskin

Ignorance taught the term “delivery”
As nominal for what the stork delivers to me
After forty-plus weeks of discomfort and pain
Morning sickness, back aches, and a vow “Never again!”

Contractions start, thus ending the wait
Labor is WORK, (minus a lunch break)
Not called “delivery” like a package in the mail
But deliverance from bondage for the Children of Israel

After birth, baby sleeps, cries, and eats
Diaper runs, spit-up, minimal sleep
Inadequate feelings of all I do wrong
Baby cries, I soothe her with my song

Tonight, a smile as she lay ‘gainst my chest
A prayer thanking Providence for my own Lainey Beth
Ask me if now the delivery I regret
What discomfort and pain? I guess I forget.
